Sobriety for Christmas give us a look at the way that the advent of Christ has much to say concerning addictions. For instance, there is no peace in addiction, but when Christ was born the angels pronouced peace. The anticipation of Christ's birth was sore awaited just as people anticipate the participation of the indulging in an addiction. Verse after verse of the advent story presents the contrast between the blessing of God found in Christ and the curse of the idolatrous addictions we construct. Other advent verses are a reflection of how the response given towards the birth of Christ is related to how we respond to the call of addictions. Two of those examples that are specifially mentioned in Sobriety for Christmas are Joseph's response and Herod's response to the birth of Christ. As God has given the gift of His Son, in Him is the apex of sobriety. Without Him there is no sobriety, no sanity, no peace. This He proved during His life on earth and continues to prove as He lives His life through those who have room in the inn.
