P.K. Lynch

P.K. Lynch is the pseudonym of Pauline Lynch, a Scotland actor, and writer. She authored two novels — Armadillos (2016) and Wildest of All (2017). Her publisher, Legend Press, suggested she do a JK Rowling and use her initials PK rather than her full name.

Pauline Lynch began her professional career playing Lizzie in the film from the Irvine Welsh novel, Trainspotting and has since worked internationally on stage, film, TV, and radio.

"Trainspotting was my first job after college. I had no idea what I was doing. Even when I became an actor, I was always writing stuff for myself possibly to perform one day," she recalled.

Lynch attended Langside College and later studied drama at Rose Bruford College, where she started writing plays. Her first, Promise, was longlisted for the Bruntwood Prize, and her second, King of the Gypsies, was an Edinburgh Fringe Recommended Show by The Scotsman, which toured nationally.

In 2011 she joined the MLitt Creative Writing program at the University of Glasgow. She made her mark as a student and, in 2013, was one of three contenders for the Sceptre Prize, an annual award run jointly by the University of Glasgow and Hodder & Stoughton.

At Edinburgh University, Pauline took the course "Getting Ready To Write Your First Novel." Her first published story Armadillos is a dark coming-of-age story about an abused girl who escapes from her family and makes her way through rural Texas.

Armadillos was on the Not the Booker longlist and became an Amazon Rising Star nominee.

The second novel, Wildest Of All, is a three-generation family saga centered around Sissy, a horribly realistic teenage girl who falls to bits when her father dies.

Pauline is a co-founder and Artistic Director of Braw Clan, the Scots Language theatre company, which is based in her adopted hometown of Biggar in Clydesdale, South Lanarkshire.

P.K. Lynch has two boys with her partner, Robin, an actor.
