Melanie Milburne

Melanie Milburne is an Australian romance writer. She has published over 85 full-length novels for Harlequin Mills & Boon. Milburne is a USA Today bestselling author, a three-time ARRA finalist, and an eight-time CataRomance Reviewers Choice Award Winner.

Melanie Milburne grew up on a small farm on the outskirts of Sydney. As a keen horse rider, she often competed in local gymkhanas and even broke in a few horses.

Melanie decided at an early age to become a nurse. However, she couldn’t stand the sight of blood and so opted for a career in teaching. She later married a surgeon, adding a curious twist to her career choice.

At age 17, Melanie delved into her first Mills & Boon novel, sparking an enduring fascination with romance literature. Relocating to Scotland to support her husband, she embraced the role of a dedicated mother to their two sons.

Driven by a sense of unfulfillment, Melanie returned to university, elevating her teaching diploma to a degree and eventually pursuing an MA. During this time, she discovered her true calling as a writer.

She debuted with the novel Forbidden Love in 1998, co-written with Kate Hardy, Margaret McDonagh, and Gill Sanderson. Now, she writes five to six books per year and has published almost 85 full-length novels for Harlequin Mills & Boon.

In 2003, she became the first Australian author in ten years to be contracted to Harlequin Mills & Boon Presents.

Melanie is an active member of Romance Writers of America, Romance Writers of Australia, and the Australian Romance Readers Association.

In 2015, Milburne won the HOLT Medallion, a prestigious award honoring outstanding literary talent.

Melanie Milburne currently lives with her family in Hobart, Tasmania.
