Backstage Pass

Fortunately, I’m more than content. I’m thrilled with life. My life has exceeded anything I ever could have hoped for. Only when we live and set goals and learn things along the way do we have any idea of what is possible. We have to experience life to know its potential.

I rarely respond to stuff like that, but this time I did.

To the whiners,

The hundreds of thousands who will love seeing the Eagles on this tour don’t care about you, and will have a great time while you whine about which and what band isn’t meeting your criteria. In a world where someone else is happy, your unhappiness doesn’t matter

At this point in my life, all of the amazing creative outlets I have make me feel good. I’d like to say they make me feel young, but that wouldn’t be accurate—because I didn’t have them when I was young.

Life is long, and in the grand scheme of things, anything we accomplish is just an opportunity to accomplish something else—something more, something better.

The mistake I made in many previous relationships was that I went into them looking for approval more than anything else. I looked for somebody who would pump me up and boost me. And that’s not grounds for a relationship—especially when I often didn’t even get the approval I had been looking for.

I’m Jewish, then my child is Jewish. Whether or not everyone agrees with that is irrelevant. When you embrace who you are with pride and without excuse, you dignify who you are.

They say that the two most important days in our lives are the day we’re born and the day we find out why. And that’s a great insight.

Except there’s no single day that we find out why. Life tells us why in an ongoing way. Experiencing life and taking it all in is a continuous process.

There’s a difference between setting a high bar and setting an impossible goal. That goes for everyone

Success gives everyone the opportunity either to sit back and get fat or to grab the next rung of the ladder, and that’s where we failed

I pursued becoming a famous musician with everything I had because, for one thing, I knew I was capable of it. When I saw the Beatles, I said to myself, “I can do that.” Well, based on what? I couldn’t play the guitar. I was deaf in one ear. And yet, without intellectualizing it, I innately knew: I can do that.
